Bitcoin Pizza Day: The Heroism of Laszlo Hanyecz and Bitcoin’s Use Cases.

The Twenty-second(22) day in May is marked in the Crypto world as Bitcoin Pizza Day. It’s used to remember Laszlo Hanyecz, who gave Bitcoin its first Use Case by stating his desire to buy 2 pizzas for 10,000 Bitcoin which were worth a paltry $40 at that time.

Laszlo was a computer programmer and one of the early adopters of Bitcoin. He was among the early adopters of Bitcoin and coded a program for fans to mine Bitcoin at that time using nothing but their Computer’s Graphics Cards (GPU).

Popular opinion in light of the present prices of Bitcoin sees Laszlo and his actions as Out of this World order of Insanity. The following tweets go to support that argument.

However, this is as farther from the truth as the East is from the West, Miles apart!.

Laszlo’s Heroic Acts

• Laszlo ought to be celebrated as he gave Bitcoin its very first Use Case: As against the price at that time, his actions brought into the limelight the future that Satoshi Nakamoto saw when he developed Bitcoin. Now our hero has saved the day and is now putting food on the table at the same time. His GPU Miner brought rising interest in Bitcoin mining and he asserts that he spent over 100,000 Bitcoin on Pizzas that summer alone. A whole host of others have benefitted from his GPU Miner code at that time, even till this present moment as Bitcoin Mining has brought the development of such tools, hardware, and Software that it’s just amazing.
• Increased the Awareness and Usage of Bitcoin: Laszlo spent over 100,000 Bitcoin on Pizzas and other stuff in the summer of 2010 after the first Pizza Purchase. He developed the GPU mining code which he posted on an open forum for others and asserts that “I wanted to do the pizza thing because to me it was free pizza,… I mean, I coded this thing and mined Bitcoin and I felt like I was winning the internet that day. I got pizza for contributing to an open-source project. Usually, hobbies are a time sink and money sink, and in this case, my hobby bought me dinner… I was like, ‘Man, I got these GPUs linked together, now I’m going to mine twice as fast. I’m just going to be eating free food; I’ll never have to buy food again.’”

Now, to the topic of Use Cases, as stated earlier, Use cases are what separates the Men from the Boys. Laszlo Haynecz purchase of Bitcoin helped out in no small measure to get Bitcoin to what it is today. His action is arguably the second most important thing after Satoshi Nakamoto developed Bitcoin.

Amongst others, the primary ones are:

• It affected not just Bitcoin price but brought about expansion, Geometric Growth, and the development of Blockchain and its attendant Technology.
